I have mentioned below the main camera features, it's rating and a bgjustification. These are the most important points to be considered with respect to the other cameras in competition (Canon XSi and Nikon D60). 1.Weather proof body(4/5):Excellent feature for the price. But, it is of no use without a weather-ressistant lens. But Pentax has recently (May 2009) released 2 weather ressistant lenses (18-55 and 50-200mm) under $250 each. These lenses were not available when I purchased the camera. 2. Image stabilization (4/5): The Pentax shifts it's sensor to compensate for the shake, unlike Canon and Nikon (they shift the lens elements). Since the shake reduction is in the body, any kind of lens (cheap ones, old ones, etc.) can be attached to the camera body and IS can be acheived. Hence, lenses are cheaper for the Pentax. I was hesitant because this is a new model from Olympus and there were no reviews. This camera works great, plenty of features and great pictures. The panoramic is really nice and the 640 x 480 video option is good quality for a digital camera even though it disables the zoom function. With the zoom extended (7X) pictures are occasionally not as sharp. After owning the camera for a week I'm very pleased with it. I'm deployed overseas and knew I would be in some rough areas. This camera will take a drop onto rocks, take pics underwater and overall just continue to work through anything. The pic quality is not somehting to be desired but that's not why you buy this camera. I don't even use a case to carry it around because you don't really need one. The camera is probably as tough as most camera cases out there. It's a heavy point and shoot, but you end up liking that weight when diving or snorkeling anyway. Canon PowerShot SX120IS 10MP Digital Camera With 10x Optical Images Stabilized Zoom And 3-inch LCD I recently purchased this camera to take pictures of the indoor Children's programs I do. The images were very grainy. Even when I changed the camera, to Program Mode, Manual, and Auto, all the images had a lot of noise in the colors. This camera is terrible for anything that moves. Even if you adjust the ISO to take faster pictures, the graininess becomes overwhelming. I tried every option and zoom possible before deciding it was too much work for 1 shot. Maybe someone out there has taken great pictures with this but, if you want something that you don't have to adjust 20 different options to take pictures, then go with a Sony Cybershot.
